An island community, alameda is connected to the mainland via four bridges, two tunnels and two ferry terminals with service to both Oakland and San Francisco. A former navy town, it is surrounded all over by a variety of marinas. And like most former military communities is currently involved in the process of determining what to do with its former Naval Air Station.
Annual Event: The Annual Alameda Literati Book Faire in November.
